Walnut Side Table
A one-off side table in solid American black walnut with a bookmatched top. This piece has found a home, but get in touch if you’d like something similar.
Description
This side table is made from solid walnut. The top is bookmatched: two boards cut from the same plank and opened out like a book, so the grain mirrors itself across the joint and the pattern runs through the middle of the table. One long edge of the top and one of the legs were left with their natural edge. Each leg is joined to the top with a round wedged mortise and tenon. The tenon passes through the top and is wedged tight, so the end of each leg shows as a small round detail in the surface. Every part was cut, shaped and joined by hand in my small workshop.
